Nestled into the game-rich Western Lebombo Mountains in Northern Zululand, lies Sungulwane Private Game Lodge. Inspired by the Zulu word for “the view of the eye” Sungulwane overlooks the exquisite, unspoiled wilderness of Zuka Private Game Reserve.
Sungulwane is a proudly family-run business. The farm is owned by John and Bruce Morrison, and the lodge is managed by their sons Rob, Mark and Nick. The Morrison’s have resided in the area for four generations and today they have realised their lifelong dream of transforming what was once an old hunting camp into the only privately owned boutique lodge in the Mun-ya-wana Big Five Conservancy.
Imagine a place where time stands still, where the gentle breeze rustles through the Red Ivory trees, the sun drops slowly beyond the horizon, the sky turns pink and the lions call. And all of this from the safety and sanctuary of your very own private balcony.
The family is entrenched in the area and all of them are truly committed to the social, economic and environmental welfare of the area and its people. Sungulwane has been built purely by local artisans and all of the lodge’s staff members reside in surrounding Zululand.
