Booking Terms & Conditions

These terms and conditions apply to all reservations made with Sungulwane Private Game Lodge. By confirming a booking, guests acknowledge that they have read, understood, and accepted the following terms.

1. General Information

Sungulwane Private Game Lodge reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions without prior notice. Any applicable changes will be communicated at the time of booking confirmation.

Most dietary requirements can be catered for. Guests are requested to advise us of any specific dietary requirements at the time of booking.

2. Conservation Levy – Munyawana Conservancy (2026)

To assist in protecting this unique corner of KwaZulu-Natal, a mandatory conservation levy applies to all guests staying within the Munyawana Conservancy.

Conservation Levy (nett):

R250 per person per night

This levy contributes directly to anti-poaching initiatives and conservation programmes, helping to protect endangered species including Black Rhino, Leopard Tortoise, Pangolin, Leopard, and other wildlife. The levy plays a vital role in preserving the area’s natural heritage for future generations.

Please note: The conservation levy is subject to change without prior notice.

3. Additional Activities (nett per person)

The following activities are available on request and are subject to availability and weather conditions:

  • Spa Treatments – in-room treatments (on request)
  • Guided Bush Walks – minimum of 4 guests (on request)
  • Photographic Hide Sessions – maximum of 6 guests (on request)

 

Payment Terms for Additional Activities:

  • Payable on departure or added to the invoice upon confirmation
  • Subject to availability and operational conditions

4. Booking Process

Official bookings can be submitted via our online booking system, or in writing with our reservations team.

A written confirmation will be issued by our reservations team.

Provisional bookings will be held for 14 days, after which the booking will be released unless the required deposit has been received.

5. Booking Confirmation & Payment Terms

A 20% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm the booking.

The full balance is payable 45 days prior to arrival.

Trade Bookings – No deposit required – Full payment is required 45 days prior to arrival.

African Safari Collective reserves the right to request deposits or full prepayment for group bookings, long stays, or during periods of high occupancy.

All bank deposits must be received free of bank charges or commissions into our nominated bank account.

No credit card transactions will be accepted from third-party service providers.

6. Cancellation Policy

Cancellation fees are calculated as a percentage of the total booking value:

  • 20% – From confirmation up to 46 days prior to arrival
  • 50% – 31 to 45 days prior to arrival
  • 80% – 8 to 30 days prior to arrival
  • 100% – 1 to 7 days prior to arrival


Cancellations must be submitted in writing.

7. Check-in & Check-out

Check-in

Check-in is available from 13:00.

Guests must arrive by 14:30 to be guaranteed participation in the afternoon game drive.

Late check-ins are available subject to the conditions below.

Late Check-in Fees

A R1,000 fee per booking applies for check-ins after 19:00.

An additional fee will apply for arrivals after 21:00.

All late arrival charges are levied at management’s discretion. A waiver may apply in cases of unforeseen circumstances.

Check-out

Check-out is at approximately 10:30, following breakfast after the morning game drive.

8. Travel, Health & Safety

Guests are advised that Sungulwane Private Game Lodge is located within a Big Five reserve. Wildlife encounters are unpredictable, and guests participate in activities at their own risk. All guests are required to follow lodge safety guidelines and the instructions of guides and staff at all times.

We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance covering medical emergencies, cancellations, and personal belongings.

9. Liability

Sungulwane Private Game Lodge, its owners, management, and staff shall not be held liable for any loss, injury, damage, illness, or death arising from participation in lodge activities, travel to or from the lodge, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

10. Governing Law

These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising from bookings or stays shall be subject to South African jurisdiction.
